Kieran Padraig Cullen is an actor and recent graduate of The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts!
Kieran’s artistic odyssey began in his years as a middle schooler; he discovered his passion for dance after sitting in during his sister’s ballet classes when his mother had no time to drop him off at home after school. It did not take long until Kieran was in a dance class, learning the basics of ballet during his first two years, then branching out to tap, hip-hop, jazz, and contemporary throughout his nine years of classical training.
The one thing Kieran loved about his dance classes was their yearly recitals. The energy that he experienced from being on stage led him to pursue as many kinds as possible of performance that he could. When he started high school, he tried getting on stage any way he could, through summer programs, community, and of course the annual high school musical. During his teenage years, Kieran would play many parts including, Jack Kelly from Disney’s “Newsies”, Seymour Krelbourn from Alan Menken’s “Little Shop of Horrors” and Pippin Stephen Schwartz’s “Pippin”.
After high school, Kieran pursued a degree in theatrical production at The Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Here, he delved into the intricacies of stagecraft, learning about design philosophies in set, lighting, and costuming respectively. All while still attending acting lessons. Unfortunately, his time at IUP had been cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic. After the quarantine, Kieran decided to expand his horizons and move to New York City to study film acting and production at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.
In more recent years, Kieran has been involved with a plethora of stage productions with companies such as The Mountain Playhouse and Stonebridge Players. He has also worked with friends and colleagues on short films and short play festivals. As of now, he is a working actor seeking representation.
In the music sphere, Kieran is self-taught on acoustic guitar. Professionally, he has worked with the up-and-coming rock band, “Walk on Mars” as a vocalist on their track “Love Yourself” and a featured acting voice-over in “Hear Us Now”
“When I was younger I used to use acting as my escape from the world. In my young life, I found the world so restricting and judgemental. I was always so scared to break the rules, but I found through the stage that I shouldn’t be afraid to make waves, I should be encouraged to. I didn’t have to be shy or scared of what anyone thought, because no matter what way I played a scene, no matter how “wrong” it was, there were always some golden nuggets of truth and feeling found everywhere. As I learned more about the technique of acting through Meisner and Hagen, I found that all along all these characters on a page are just me. Me not running away. And that is what has sparked my love for the craft ever since.”
